A COUPLE from Barnsley have been named as the pair who French authorities believed were killed in a murder-suicide on Sunday.

John Boyes, 64, and his 65-year-old wife Kathryn, were found dead in their property in Boudrac, south of Toulouse.

The pair moved to France around a decade ago before settling last summer in the village, at the foot of the Pyrenees.

It’s reported they bought a series of buildings for around £200,000 with the dream being to convert them into a bed-and-breakfast business.

But, according to local prosecutor Christophe Amunzateguy, the pair were facing ‘severe financial problems’ and their savings had ran out.

The couple’s bodies were found on Sunday after their friends hasn’t heard from the pair for a number of days.

It’s believed they died on previous Thursday and French authorities said they reportedly died in a murder-suicide.

Mr Amunzateguy said: “This appears to be a case of murder-suicide.

“The couple had a project to open a guesthouse but it was ended because of financial difficulties.

“There was no evidence of a third-party being involved.”
