INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing after a ‘large amount of cash’ was taken in a raid on a post office.

Wombwell Post Office, on High Street, was reportedly targeted in the early hours of Tuesday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said ‘unknown offenders’ reportedly damaged tills and took cash in the burglary.

“Police were called at around 4.20am on Tuesday, June 21 to a post office on High Street, Wombwell, following reports of a burglary,” they added.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with any information should call 101 quoting incident number 144 of June 21.”
