VALUABLES left on show in parked cars were the subject of a police operation.
Officers from Barnsley North Neighbourhood Policing Team undertook checks in Honeywell as part of the ‘vulnerable vehicle scheme’ to educate motorists on the dangers of leaving items on show.
Patrols took place on Honeywell Street, Honeywell Grove, Honeywell Place, Hartington Drive and Rockingham Street on Monday.
“All necessary advice was given to drivers of any vehicles displaying valuables and the primary aim of this activity is just to raise awareness to the general public,” said a spokesperson for the team.
PCSOs from the team also undertook high-visibility patrols in Old Town after reported increases in the numbers of vehicles being interfered with.
