FISH and chips are the nation’s favourite food - and one Cudworth woman still isn’t sick of them despite being behind the counter for half a century.

Pam Walker, 77, only has to walk across the road to get to the place she loves and works - Darfield Road Fisheries.

Starting off in 1972 aged 27, Pam managed to find a profession that would last her more than 50 years, but she’s not stopping yet.

She told the Chronicle: “I’ve loved absolutely every minute of it and I’m not going to retire just yet - I’ll be here as long as I’m able.

“It was really old fashioned when I start but it’s modernised now.

“I love going to work and that’s why I’m still here.

“One of my favourite memories since I’ve been here is going in the Chronicle when I was 69 - and I love seeing people in the street.”
