AN all-conquering mother and son duo have been sweeping up in both the individuals and mixed pairs darts competition.

Heather Barton, 53, and Jack Hill, 28, both from Wombwell, took part in the Wombwell and District individuals charity darts league and were the winners of the mixed pairs competition which took place in June.

Heather won the the ladies league in March and Jack then won the men's league in May. They then took the mixed pairs competition win in June.

The competition took place at Wombwell Conservative and Unionist Club on Park Street, where Heather has been stewardess for nine years.

Heather said: “I won the competition first and I was absolutely over the moon.

“When we both won the mixed pairs competition we were actually in tears - we felt so pleased.

“My son’s grandma passed away so it was a really sad time for us - Jack said he had won the competition for his grandma and that winning this would make her proud.”

The ladies and men's league are looking to extend their team after a few members left during the Covid-19 pandemic - Heather advises anyone who’s wishing to get involved to make contact with the club on Facebook, or speak to Heather on 07743 240402.
