A BBC antiques expert who shot to prominence on shows such as Bargain Hunt stopped off at a valuation event in the town centre this week.
David Harper spent the afternoon at Beckett Grange - a retirement complex - providing information on items brought in by residents.
Fiona Brooks, marketing director at McCarthy Stone - the developer behind the retirement complex - said: “David’s visit was a great success and he was very happy to pass on his expert knowledge.
“A few found they were in possession of items that were likely to be worth far more than they had thought.
“The valuation afternoon was one of a regular series of events held at Beckett Grange, and as always David was a brilliant host.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
