A BARNSLEY man who reportedly held two Goldthorpe shops at gun point has been charged.
John Wright, 20, of Barnsley Road, has been charged with two counts of robbery, two firearms offences, possession of a knife, affray and a breach of court bail.
It’s reported that on December 14, at around 6.20pm, a man entered Khela Food and Wine on Doncaster Road and produced a handgun - demanding money before leaving the store.
The next day, at around 6am, further reports were made of a man entering Andy’s News on Barnsley Road with a handgun, who proceeded to demand money and cigarettes.
Wright was arrested later that day on suspicion of both robberies, and other offences in the Goldthorpe area which had occurred over the previous two weeks.
Wright has been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on January 13, 2023.
