OFFICERS investigating a distraction burglary in Barnsley have released an e-fit image of a man they are trying to trace.

It is reported that on February 22 an unknown man knocked on the door of a property on Preston Avenue in Jump.

The homeowner and victim, a 71-year-old man, was led to believe the man needed to look at bushes in his garden, as he had been asked by the farmer of an adjacent field to cut them back.

While the victim and the suspect were in the garden, a second man is believed to have entered the property, searched all the rooms and taken cash before both men fled the scene.

Officers have worked with the victim to produce an e-fit image and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

The man is described as aged in his 30s and white.
