MORE than 2,500 crimes were committed across Barnsley’s four policing wards in a month, latest figures show.
Officers from Barnsley’s North East Neighbourhood Policing Team - which cover areas such as Cudworth and Grimethorpe - saw the most amount of crime in the town in April, with a total of 894 incidents.
The South East ward saw 699 crimes, the West 575 and Barnsley Central 419.
It means there was a total of 2,587 crimes committed in total - the majority of which related to sexual or violent offences.

Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
