COURT ROUND-UP: A shopkeeper who is accused of supplying almost 18,000 illegal cigarettes will appear in court next month.

Ahmed Amin, of Goldthorpe Mini Mart on High Street, is also said to have concealed the products under a floor in a store room.

The 46-year-old will appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on April 4 after a hearing earlier this month was adjourned to allow time for a Kurdish interpreter to be found.

TENS of thousands of pounds have been seized from a Royston man under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Robert Taylor, 36, of Birkdale Road, appeared at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday relating to £40,000 in cash. It was ruled that the money will be kept by police for 180 days while investigations continue. A separate application – which sought to hold three watches and two gold chains with an estimated value of £98,830 for the same amount of time - was withdrawn.

A FLY-TIPPER has been handed a £2,000 bill having been found guilty at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court. Michael Stone, of Burton Road, Monk Bretton, admitted dumping a sofa on Carlton Industrial Estate in April last year. The 31-year-old was fined £320 and ordered to pay court costs of £1,624 following a sentencing hearing.

A MAN has been ordered to pay back more than £3,000 after benefiting from a life of crime. A confiscation order was made against Rafal Jablecki, 30, of Smithies Lane, on February 5. He was sentenced to 31 months’ imprisonment for drugs trafficking offences and possession of criminal property. He benefited to the tune of more than £25,000 and has been order to pay back £3,200 in the next 30 days.

A WOMAN who assaulted a police officer has been fined. Zoe Bailey, of Station Road, Barnsley, admitted assaulting a male officer on July 15, 2022. The 48-year-old, who was not present at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court last week, was fined £120.

A MAN whose criminal enterprises benefited him to the tune of more than £40,000 has been ordered to pay back just £1 of it. Edmir Isaku, 35, of Moorland Terrace, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment for drugs trafficking offences earlier this year. His life of crime accrued a total of £40,500 – and South Yorkshire Police have placed a confiscation order of £1. He has been given three months to pay it back.

CASH believed to have been accrued through crime will be kept by police after approval was granted. Joe Hewison’s money - totalling £1,840 - was taken by police under the Proceeds of Crime Act. It will continue to be detained by police until the 35-year-old, of Fitzwilliam Street, Barnsley, next appears at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on May 7.

A THIEF who was found with stolen fuel drums will be sentenced next month. Tommy Reynolds, of Crown Avenue, Cudworth, was charged having been found with the items in connection to a theft on December 17 of last year. The 38-year-old was also found guilty in his absence of driving a Seat Leon without insurance on the same day. He failed to turn up to his trial at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court and was found guilty in his absence. Reynolds, who also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender, was subsequently arrested after a warrant was issued following the trial. He will return to the court on April 4.

A MOTHER whose eight-year-old son failed to attend school regularly will appear in court next month. Zoe Banner, of Birkwood Avenue, Cudworth, will enter a plea in relation to the matter on April 4.

A WOMAN who is accused of dumping litter on her own street will appear in court in April. Zoe Milner, of Milgate Street, Royston, did not appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court earlier this month for her hearing. The 33-year-old has been ordered to appear on April 4.
