A DEVOTED dad is stepping into the boxing ring to raise money for a life-changing 'vest' for his teenage daughter who has cystic fibrosis.

Michael Barr has signed up for white collar boxing at Barnsley Metrodome on June 27. The event is primarily for Cancer Research but Michael has set up his own Just Giving and Facebook pages which will also raise money for his daughter Caitlin, 14.

Cystic fibrosis is one of the most common life-threatening inherited diseases. The condition makes it hard for people to breathe and digest food and symptoms include recurrent chest infections and sticky mucus on the lungs.

Michael, of Welland Crescent, Elsecar, wants to buy a special CF vest for her. It vibrates and helps clear mucus and prevent infections. The vest is not available on the NHS and starts at about £5,000.
