A BALL loving dog’s legacy at the Barnsley park where he loved chasing tennis balls has been given a bumper boost by a local sports club.

Murphy the Labrador had to be put to sleep on April 7.

His owner Susan Barnes paid homage to her beloved pet by taking his collection of tennis balls to Locke Park and giving them away to other dogs so they could ‘enjoy them as much as Murphy did’.

The touching tribute by Susan, 53, went viral after it was posted on social media and she has continued to maintain his legacy, buying another 100 balls to top up the basket.

It has now been given a further boost with a kind donation from the Barnsley Lawn Tennis Club.
