A CAWTHORNE company has been nominated for a Community Hero award for providing meaningful experiences for those with learning difficulties.

Greenworks was established by 39-year-old twins Jonathan and Julian Senior four years ago, after they noticed a lack of opportunities for those with learning difficulties leaving full-time education.

Forty learners aged between 18 and 50 visit the company's three acre Cawthorne farm each week, playing a vital role in readying livestock, flowers and Christmas trees to sell, as well as providing gardening services for Barnsley Council and private clients.

The company was nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award by mum Jayne Shaw, whose son James has been attending Greenworks sessions since the start of the year.
