Barnsley 'keeper Adam Davies is already a fifth of the way to matching last season's total of ten clean sheets.

Although the season is just a month old Davies, 23, has already kept out both Burton Albion and Bradford City. He appreciates that successful teams record clean sheets and wants to better last season's tally.

Davies, who signed a new and improved deal in the summer, said: "As long as I keep fit and play every game I feel like I can beat ten clean sheets. I'm not too worried about it.  We're just going out to win games and if I keep a clean sheet that's great.

"As a 'keeper there's always room for improvement in every department.  I'm always looking to get better on the training ground. I think I'm quite a vocal 'keeper now. I've got better from the start of last season. I spoke to the lads at the back and they say they can hear me."

Davies is working with a new 'keeper coach for the first time in a while. He had grown used to Mark Crossley, who recommended him to the Reds after developing him at Sheffield Wednesday. Davies is enjoying the fresh approach from John

Vaughan and the challenge of loanee Nick Townsend, who was recommended by Vaughan who had him at Birmingham City. He added: "Vaughany is great. He's got some new ideas which are good to get. It's nice to get other opinions on goalkeeping. The sessions are quite similar really.  He's just got a different way of spinning it.  It's all about opinions and what he thinks I should be doing in different situations.

"Nick's keeping me on my toes and he's a good young 'keeper. It's nice to have someone like that with you.  He did really well in the League Cup game (at Scunthorpe)."
