Barnsley have signed winger Jordan Green from League Two Yeovil Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old is the Reds’ first new arrival of the January transfer window having netted eight goals in 68 appearances for the Somerset club.

He joins on a two-and-a-half-year deal until the summer of 2021 with the Oakwell club having an option to extend the contract for another season.

Barnsley are low on wingers following the sale of Brad Potts to Preston North End and the continued struggles of Ryan Hedges and Lloyd Isgrove to break into Daniel Stendel’s starting line-up.

After being released by Fulham’s academy, Green had a spell at non-league Banbury United then spent two years with Premier League Bournemouth without making an appearance.

After loans at Newport County and Leyton Orient, he moved permanently to Yeovil in 2017. He has scored four goals this season in 19 League Two appearances – 16 starts – including the winner at Mansfield Town on Saturday which was his final game for the Glovers.
