A GROUP for ukulele lovers meets once a month at a Wombwell pub.

The group - run by Arthur Tindall and Rob Eaton - meets at the Barley Sheaf on the second Thursday of every month.

Arthur, from Summer Lane, Wombwell, said the group couldn't be set up as another George Formby Society, due to one already existing in Worsbrough - so they called themselves Good Fun Strumming instead, keeping the same initials.

"We had seven members to start with and finished up with 30-odd people, coming from as far as Chesterfield and Worksop.

"It is just a fun instrument, nothing complicated. Anyone can pick it up. You could play a tune in a day, with two chord songs."

The group is a mixture of beginners and musical veterans, but they always play to a tempo everyone can join in on.
