A MAN battling demons of depression and drug addiction strangled himself on a country path using cable ties, an inquest was told.

Ian John Moore - known as ‘Lobby’ to his friends - was found dead by a dog walker on the Trans-Pennine Trail near Tank Row, Stairfoot, on November 19 last year.

An inquest held on Tuesday was told Mr Moore, 47, of Bainton Drive, Kingstone, had taken his own life by tightly wrapping the ties around his neck which caused him to asphyxiate.

Assistant coroner Julian Fox read a statement by pathologist Dr Mini Varghese which said Mr Moore was a long term drug user, with heroin being his drug of choice but had been clean for eight years.
