A PEDESTRIAN was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car near the town centre yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Westway at about 1.50pm following reports a person had been involved in a collision with a car.
The road was closed from Townend roundabout towards the Alhambra while the incident was dealt with.
The person was airlifted to hospital though it is believed the injuries were not life threatening.
The road reopened at 3.50pm.
