PLANS to build an Aldi off High Street, Royston, have been approved by Barnsley Council planning officers.

An application was submitted in December to the planning board for an Aldi store with parking, landscaping and associated works.

The plans were originally approved back in June, for a store with a small housing development, but since then the plans have changed. The housing development has been removed, creating a larger store, with a wider landscaping buffer.

The new store is estimated to create up to 50 jobs in the area.
