Barnsley have signed Bournemouth winger Connor Mahoney on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Cherries, but has played twice for them in the FA Cup this month after joining from Blackburn Rovers last summer.
Barnsley attempted to sign him on loan a year ago from his hometown club Blackburn, for whom he played 21 times after signing from Accrington Stanley where he made his professional debut as a 16-year-old. He is yet to score his first career goal in 32 appearances.
Mahoney will add to a winger's department which currently includes the injured Lloyd Isgrove as well as Adam Hammill and Lloyd Isgrove. Barnsley have also been trying to get Mahoney's England under 20 colleague Harvey Barnes back from Leicester after a successful pre-Christmas loan, while a move for Harrison Manzala broke down due to the Frenchman's wage demands.
The Reds will now look to do more business before Wednesday's deadline. They are keen to bring in another striker, with Oliver McBurnie still a target, as well as central midfield cover with RC Lens' Thomas Ephestion thought to be close to a move. They are also considering a second bid for Oxford goalkeeper Simon Eastwood after the first was rejected.
Injuries to centre-backs Ethan Pinnock, who broke a bone in his foot in training last week, and Adam Jackson who had only just returned to training, mean that Barnsley could now look for another player in that position.
