Top two North Gawber and Dodworth MW are due to meet in a crucial County Senior Premier Division clash tomorrow.

Dodworth, in the top flight for the first time after two successive promotions, have won all seven of their matches. They visit Gawber who are second after winning six of their seven. Dodworth could go six points clear with a win but a Gawber victory, by two or more goals, would see them overtake their near neighbours on goal difference.

Dodworth’s Craig Allen said: “It will be a tough game against a good team and we’re all looking forward to it. There will still be a long way to go but, if we win and go six points clear, it will put us in a very strong position and give us a massive psychological boost.”

Gawber manager Dave Simms added: “It’s an absolutely massive game. If Dodworth get six points clear it will be a tough ask to catch them, with the start they have made and the football they play. But we are quietly confident going into the game. We’re hoping for a big crowd for what should be a cracking game and a good advert for Barnsley football.”

North Gawber won 2-1 at Frecheville on Saturday. The hosts scored an own goal and conceded a penalty which Liam Marsden netted. Gawber are now three points behind leaders Dodworth who battered Millmoor Juniors 15-2 in the League Cup. Ryan Barlow and Kieron Suthern scored four goals each while there were hat-tricks for Danny Barlow and Gareth McDermott. Aarron Brotherton netted.
