SOME of the best sports cars have their engines in the boot but Sharon Carson's Hyundai Coupe was never supposed to be one of them.

Most of her car's engine is in 'a million pieces' in her boot, with a gaping hole under the bonnet where the engine is supposed to be.

Sharon is about to begin legal proceedings in a dispute with Halford's Autocentre in Barnsley after being told her car needed £2,500 in repairs she claims she had previously been told would be covered by the garage.

A spokesman for Halfords Autocentres said: "Our own and independent investigations have shown that the car failed due to a long-term lack of maintenance before and after successfully fitting the timing belt.

"We have advised Mrs Carson what ongoing maintenance is needed to ensure the smooth running of her vehicle and also offered to carry out the works needed to ensure her vehicle is roadworthy. She declined to have this subsequent work carried out at Halfords and arranged for the vehicle to be collected from us."
