Barnsley have made their fourth signing of the summer by bringing in Bolton Wanderers striker Conor Wilkinson on loan until January 4.

The Reds tried to sign in the six foot two 20-year-old earlier in the summer on a permanent basis but were not able to match the four years that remain on his contract at Championship Bolton.

Republic of Ireland international Wilkinson played for Barnsley head coach Lee Johnson when he was manager of Oldham Athletic last season, scoring three goals in 18 games for the Reds' League One rivals.

Wilkinson will join Sam Winnall as the only recognised strikers currently at Oakwell. The Reds have already brought in winger Marley Watkins this summer as well as centre-backs Marc Roberts and Alfie Mawson.
