BARNSLEY Hospital is seeing an improvement in A and E waiting times following a bad start to the new financial year.

All hospitals are required to see 95 per cent of patients in A and E within four hours, but like many hospitals, Barnsley Hospital missed the target last year.

It has now been set quarterly targets, and is part way through the first. It must achieve 92 per cent by June.

If it doesn’t, it could lose out on vital money from the Department of Health.
