OFFICERS in Barnsley are appealing for witnesses and information following a robbery in the town centre after a man was ‘slashed’ with a knife.
The incident took place at 6.45am today (December 30), and it’s reported that a milkman was making deliveries on Canal Street when he was approached by an unknown man on foot.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “The man reportedly slashed the milkman with a knife before stealing his van.
“The van, a white Citroen Dispatch, was found abandoned on Lang Avenue, Lundwood a short time later.
“We would like anyone with any information or CCTV from Canal Street or Lang Avenue, or who captured the van (registration KM67 RNF) on their dash cam this morning to come forward.
“Please call 101 quoting incident number 132 of December 30.
“Any footage can be sent through to enquiries@southyorks.pnn.police.uk with the incident number as the subject title.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
