BARNSLEY Council is appealing for information after a quad bike caused more than £3,000 worth of damage to a golf course in Staincross for the second year running.

Known as Barnsley Golf Club, the course on Wakefield Road is believed to have been subject to the damage on Sunday evening.

A Barnsley Council spokesperson said: “£3000 worth of damage has been caused by quad bikes to one of our golf courses in Barnsley.

“We don’t tolerate this behaviour in our borough and are joining forces to identify the offender.

“If you have any information please email safer@barnsley.gov.uk.”

Coun Steve Hunt of the Darton East ward added: “I am appalled that for the second year in a row severe damage has been caused to Barnsley Golf Course by off road bikes.”
