SUPPOSED danger roads in the running for a share of a £90,000 pot for safety measures were named at yesterday’s full council meeting.

Councillors’ requests include two pedestrian crossings on Wakefield Road in the St Helen’s ward and New Lodge, and one crossing improvement on Sheffield Road in Penistone.

Coun Chris Lamb, cabinet spokesperson for environment and transportation, replied: “These plans will be overseen, scored and ranked by experienced, qualified officers - not by politicians.”
