THE flu vaccine uptake among pregnant women in Barnsley has fallen to a record low, new figures have revealed.

Statistics from the UK Health Secretary Agency show that 2,701 pregnant women across the borough were registered to a GP last winter.

Only 1,140 of those women received a flu jab between September and the end of February.

This equates to a 42.2 per cent uptake - the lowest rate since comparable records began in 2014 and down from 50 per cent last year.
