A POPULAR pub has become a ‘warm space’ for isolated people this winter.

Landlords at the Prince of Wales in Wombwell - Mark and Sharon Lang - are opening their doors at 11am each day in order to welcome those who are struggling to heat their homes.

Staff want locals to use the High Street bar as a ‘community hub’ as a place they can go to keep warm and enjoy the company of others.

Sharon said: “This is the best time of year for most of us but for some it can be the worst time.

“A lot of people are lonely, and so we wanted to get involved in bringing people together and give them the chance to make new friends.

“Our doors are open seven days a week from 11am, we’ve got a lovely clean, dry and warm pub which we want to push into a community hub, not just a pub.

“We want to spread the warmth - we all have a right to it without the worry of the costs.”
