A YOUNG girl who wanted to give back to charity had ten inches cut off her hair last weekend.
Eight-year-old Amelia Hepplestone, from Honeywell, already had a pre-booked hair appointment at Platinum Style Hair and Beauty, on Carlton Hill, for Saturday, but nearer the time decided she wanted to give back to those less fortunate.
She donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust a charity which aims to provide children and young people with real hair wigs following cancer treatment.
Amelia’s mum, Lauren Hepplestone, told the Chronicle she was ‘beyond proud’ of her daughter.
“She’s the most caring and giving person she was so excited on the run up to her hair appointment,” Lauren said.
“I thought she might have had doubts on the day, or nerves at least, but she didn’t and never stopped smiling all the way through.
“I’m beyond proud of Amelia I thought it was a really lovely idea wanting to donate her hair and give back to those less fortunate.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
