A PENSIONER who is accused of killing a protected species of bird will appear for trial.
Peter Smith, of Clifton Close, Barnsley was charged with killing the sparrowhawk at Hope Street Allotments, Mapplewell, in February.
The 77-year-old, who pleaded not guilty, was bailed and will next appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on December 5.
