A NEW mum is taking time out of her busy schedule to provide free books to children across Barnsley.
Jenny Duffy, 33, whose son was born only nine months ago, will be running a book hunt throughout the month, where she will hide more than 100 books in town for youngsters to find.
The project has been supported by town centre businesses The Yorkshire Witch and Old George, who have provided funding for the books to be purchased.
Jenny told the Chronicle: “I’m going to be putting together book packs to get free books to children.
“Every Friday throughout the month I’ll hide a few somewhere and post a photo of it on Facebook for kids to go out and find.
“Then during the May half term we’ll do a lot of them and it can be an activity for the family.”
Jenny has already reached out to markets and local businesses, seeing if they will support the activity and let her hide the packs within their store.
The idea originally came from children’s publisher Usborne Books, who Jenny has partnered with to set up the activity.
“It was really the main reason I reached out to them,” she added.
“It’s about getting as many books out there for kids as I can.
“I really want to do a book pledge for schools and libraries after, helping supply them with more books.”
