Shaw Lane Aquaforce were denied a point from their first home game at Evo-Stik First Division South level.

Aquaforce, who are now Barnsley's highest ever placed non-league team, were pegged back to a 1-1 draw against the oldest club in the world Sheffield FC on Tuesday night.

New signing Jonathan Wafula put The Ducks ahead on 32 minutes with a calm finish over the Sheffield 'keeper from Lee Morris' flick on.

Morris almost doubled the lead before the interval but his lobbed effort went just over the bar.

Aquaforce then survived a goalmouth scramble with three Sheffield efforts been blocked on their route to goal.

An equaliser had looked on the cards and the visitors were level on 77 minutes through Ben Turner's towering header.

The home side still had chances to grab the win.

Joe Thornton's freekick tested Conor Mitchell in goal and Rhys Meynell and substitute Adam Priestley both struck the woodwork in the closing stages.

After a 2-1 win at Tividale in their opening fixture, Aquaforce have made a strong start to this level.
