NEIL Richardson’s contributions towards art and football have got him nominated for a Proud of Barnsley Award.

Born and raised in Barnsley, Neil is an artist who creates artwork for anyone who asks, he has created many pieces that have raised money for different charities and community groups.

Neil, of Springfield Street, Barnsley, is currently in the process of creating a series of pieces of art work called ‘On The Line’.

Each piece in this collection will show a different town or cities’ football club and a line of football shirts hanging from a garden with the view of the stadium in the background.

The hope is that eventually he will have painted an On The Line piece for every league club.

One of Neil’s most recent charity contributions was a painting he created during a fundraising ball held in Chatsworth House for the Weston Park Cancer Charity.

He painted an On The Line piece of Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane and once it was completed the piece sold for £1,200.

Neil is holding his next charity event on Friday October 5 at the Holiday Inn in Dodworth where he will be doing another live painting for charity.

Once he has finished, the painting will be auctioned and the money raised will go to the Alzheimer’s Society charity.

The piece he will be creating on the night will show Percy Turner’s Butchers, in Jump, which is said to have the best pork pies in the country, with local heroes and celebrities queuing outside.

In the past his work has raised money for a number of different charities including Barnsley Hospice, Tiny Hearts Appeal, Liam Jones Legacy and many others.

Besides all of this, Neil is also a doting dad of two and works at Greenacre School where he cares for children who have special educational needs.
