THE principal of one of the country’s most-improved primary schools has been invited by the government to be a national leader of education to help drive improvement in other schools.

Sam Bailey is principal of Forest Academy at Kendray, and is also executive principal of two other Barnsley schools - all three members of the Wellspring Academies Trust.

“The Department of Education has just written to invite me to be a national leader of education, and to invite the school to be a designated national support school,” she said.
