Barnsley continued their superb start to their first season back in the Championship with a magnificent 4-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.

All the goals came in the final 17 minutes through captain Conor Hourihane, former Wolves player Adam Hammill, debutant Saidy Janko who had only just come off the bench, and finally another substitute in Tom Bradshaw.

Barnsley are third in the Championship while their 18 goals in seven matches is the best tally in the top four divisions of English football.

Paul Heckingbottom made one change to the side that won at Preston on Saturday with the match-winner at Deepdale, Adam Armstrong, replacing Marley Watkins up front.

Wolves started well with Adam Davies tipping over a second-minute free-kick from Jack Price then letting the resulting corner go over his head only for Richard Stearman's volley to be cleared off the line by Andy Yiadom.

Davies then mishit a clearance straight to Jed Wallace who was clean through but hit the side netting from 15 yards out on the right of the box. After a poor first 15 minutes, the Reds got back into the game.

Ryan Kent shot wide twice from long range while Adam Armstrong sent a 20-yard effort into the midriff of home goalkeeper Carl Ikeme then set up a great chance for former Wolves man Sam Winnall who completely missed the ball when well-placed eight yards out.

Joe Mason headed a Prince Oniangue cross over the bar then Winnall did the same at the other end from a Marc Roberts throw.

Heckingbottom appealed passionately for a foul on Josh Scowen which may have been just inside the box four minutes after the break but no penalty was given.

Winnall then failed to get anything on a good heading chance five yards out after a nice Hammill cross. Davies then made a good low save from Jed Wallace at the other end.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson chested down a fine crossfield pass from Joao Teixeira but volleyed over from eight yards out on the right of the box.

The opening goal came with 15 minutes to play. Ryan Kent powered into the box and squared to substitute Marley Watkins who had two shots blocked before Hourihane fired into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box.

Hammill then doubled the lead by skipping past several challenges as he moved from the left wing into the box then he finished from close range. Janko's goal was even better as he blasted into the top right corner from the right corner of the box.

Janko set up the fourth in injury-time as he ran into the box from the right and squared to Bradshaw, who brilliantly turned a defender before slamming in.

It was almost five when Hourihane went through on the right side but hit the post.
