GREENACRE School has become an academy and joined Barnsley-based multi-academy trust Wellspring Academy Trust this week.
Greenacre, which caters for children and young people with severe and complex learning difficulties, is rated by Ofsted as outstanding and joins Springwell Learning Community, Oakhill Primary Academy, Oakwell Rise Academy and the Forest Academy as part of Wellspring’s cluster of Barnsley Academies, with several more spread out across the region.
Diane Greaves, headteacher at Greenacre School, said: ‘‘We are delighted to be joining Wellspring. We visited a few trusts to ensure we were making the best decision for the children and young people in our care and we believe that Wellspring is a perfect fit.
“We have already benefited from the trust’s support and are extremely optimistic about what the future holds.”
