Paul Heckingbottom says making detailed plans for the January transfer window now is a 'waste of time.'

The head coach has previously said that making preparations for new signings and offering new contracts had been put on hold until the conclusion of the attempted takeover by a consortium headed by Chinese billionaire Chien Lee.

Heckingbottom told the Chronicle: "I know what I would like but I don't know what we will be able to do in January. There is no point making detailed plans because I hate wasting time. I am just focusing on the players we have now."

Heckingbottom admits he would look again at striker Oliver McBurnie who thought he had joined Barnsley on loan in August but the deal was cancelled as the paperwork had not been submitted in time. The 21-year-old has come off the bench in the Swans' last two Premier League games.

Heckingbottom said: "I have kept in contact with Oliver because I wanted to make sure he wasn't too down after that happened. He was desperate to come here but he's been doing well for Swansea's under 23s and he's had some first team minutes. It is something we could possibly revisit in January."

Another deal which was done too late in August was full-back Andy Yiadom's move to Swansea, after a transfer to Huddersfield broke down due to a failed medical. The Ghana international is being linked with big-money moves in January.

Heckingbottom said: "If he did leave in January it would be for a fee that the club is happy with. We had that a couple of times in the summer but the deals didn't go through. Yids is very professional and he's just focusing on doing well for us. He's been very good since he's been back in the side."
