BARNSLEY nightingale Kate Rusby has labelled this year’s Underneath the Stars Festival as the biggest and best yet.

The folk singer, from Cawthorne, headlined the festival on Sunday. She said: “We had the most amazing time at the festival. The best one yet.

"It was vibrant, beautiful, heartwarming, exciting, thrilling, life affirming and very emotional.

“Thank you to all who attended, you made it so special and it feels like our festival belongs to people now and it is in very good hands.”

Other headliners included Newton Faulkner, Show of Hands, Lucy Rose and Raghu Dixit. Other performers included Barnsley favourites The Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican.
