A FAMILY holiday in Egypt turned into a hellish nightmare after a father was accused of stealing a pair of sunglasses and locked up.

Thomas Greenhalgh and his girlfriend Lyndsey Greenhalgh were enjoying a relaxing holiday in Sharm El Sheikh with their two children, Skye, five, and Summer, 18 months.

But their holiday took a sinister twist when an Egyptian man accused Thomas of theft as the family lounged around the pool.

Thomas, 33, was arrested at his hotel, taken to a prison where no one spoke English, locked up for two days and two nights, threatened by inmates and accosted by gay inmates, forced to crawl on his knees past police officers,  freed only after Lyndsey, 28, found an English speaking lawyer and left £7,000 out of pocket after he missed his flight home.
