When it comes to rummy, 100-year old Margaret Vamplew can give definitely give players a run for their money.

Margaret, Hallstead nursing home's luckiest and oldest resident, turns her hand to card games, bingo and dominoes, winning most weeks.

Karen Walker, activities' coordinator at the home in Grimethorpe, says the centenarian is still as sharp as someone 30 years her junior.

"She's amazing," she said.

"She's 101 in a couple of months and she just joins in everything and she wins. She is a real live wire."

Margaret, originally from Worsbrough, moved to Shafton at 25 after she got married and lived there until moving to the home.

She has two sons, a daughter, seven granndchildren, 19 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
