BARNSLEY lass Michela Brennan is living the dream as stage manager for Les Miserables in the West End.

Michela's job as stage manager at The Queen's Theatre, the West End home of the show, means she is in charge of literally everything that happens on stage.

"That means everything that moves, everything, all the actors, all the crew and making sure that what happens is how it is directed and has been rehearsed and is in a safe manner is down to me," she said.

It tells the story of ex-convict Jean Valjean who is hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Michela has to deal with some 100 cast and crew involved in every performance, and the famous barricade that moves almost 20 metres every show at The Queen's.

At 31 she is probably one of the youngest to take on the role, having carved out a career in theatre stage management that has taken her all over the world.
