Barnsley East MP Michael Dugher has hailed the success of last weekend's LIVE in Barnsley music festival and paid tribute to its organisers.

Nearly 100 bands took to the stage in venues across the town centre.

Mr Dugher even took to the stage himself, performing early on at Blah Bar, while wearing his LIVE in Barnsley t-shirt to show his support for the festival.

Organisers Dave Pearsall and Steve Clifford managed to ensure the festival remained free for anyone who wanted to visit.

Mr Dugher said: "LIVE in Barnsley was a brilliant music festival and there was a real buzz about the town. I'd like to congratulate and thank the organisers who put their heart and soul into the project.

"It was a great day, a real showcase of local talent and it showed everyone what we can do in Barnsley. I really hope we can do it again next year and that LIVE in Barnsley will go from strength to strength."
