THE FIRST session of a coffee club for people affected by cancer took place on Tuesday.

The We Can Survive Coffee Club was organised by Cheryl Roberts, who also created the We Can Survive Singers choir.

The coffee club was organised to create an informal place where cancer survivors, those battling the disease and anyone who has been affected by the disease can chat and enjoy coffee and cake.

“It went really well,” said Cheryl, herself a cancer survivor. “There were some amazing conversations that went on.

“I’ve had people telling me that something like this is what Barnsley needs and I was really pleased we got off to such a good start.”

The We Can Survive Coffee Club will take place every Tuesday from 10am-11.30am and 11.30am-1pm at the Asda community rooms on Old Mill Lane.
