SCHOOL nursing, health visiting and the family nurse partnership will be combined into one service by next year under new plans outlined by the council.

The reorganisation was revealed as part of a Barnsley Council survey asking for people's views on what they would like to see from a service that will provide health and well-being support to children and young people aged up to 19.

Examples of services include visits from a health visitor, school nurse, family nurses working with young parents, provision of 'Healthy Start' vitamins, and the National Child Measurement Programme for weighing and measuring reception and year six children.

Coun Jim Andrews, cabinet spokesperson for public health, said: "We will use your views, along with information from similar surveys such as the family centres consultation, to develop a service which aims to give every child in Barnsley the best start in life."

People can complete the short survey online until July 27 at www.barnsley.gov.uk/0-19
