KIRK Balk Academy is growing in size to help cope with increased demand from parents who want to see their children educated there.

This summer the school has 218 year 11 leavers and in September they will be replaced by around 260 new students.

It is the third consecutive year the school will have seen a significant increase in pupil numbers and the situation has now been formalised, with the local education authority authorising the academy to take in 270 new students each year.

The school’s leadership team believes part of the increased demand for places is due to Kirk Balk’s commitment to a transition process which is centred on the children moving up.
