A STREET in Monk Bretton has been plagued with roadworks since the building of a new housing estate started nearly two years ago.

The area with the biggest problem fronts Monk Bretton Cross Street WMC where club president Les Price claims there have been three disruptions with sewer issues in a year, with the latest incident only clearing last week.

He said: “We have lost trade because members could not get to the club and taxis have not been able to drop-off or pick-up passengers near the club doors. Some could not walk from cars or taxis to the club.

“The constant holes-in-the-road have ruined the social life of this part of the village and it started when the new estate came into use. The committee will have to consider compensation for destroying club life.

“Brewery trucks have had problems and the one-way traffic has been a danger to pedestrians.”

When Yorkshire Water were asked about the constant problems they did not offer a reason.
