FENCING stolen from a nursery’s newly-finished play area has been returned - thanks to a public appeal.

Grimethorpe Family Centre, which is in the grounds of Milefield Primary School, was taken by thieves last month.

But, following an appeal in the Chronicle and via newsletters, the fencing is now back in place after a parent bought it from someone who was selling it on.

Michelle Graham, assistant manager, said: “The kids were devastated as they destroyed their play area - it only opened a few weeks ago and already it’s been targeted.

“More than £200 has been raised by parents to fund replacement fencing, but we now have the original back in place thanks to a parent who was offered it.

“The children are delighted and we want to thank those who have helped us.”
