A 60-STRONG team of volunteers is in the process of finalising details for this year’s Penistone Agricultural show which is just a fortnight away.

The show is the biggest one day event of its type and features more than 150 competitive classes covering everything from cattle to pigs in livestock and flower arranging to honey across a broad spectrum of other countryside skills.

Around 1,000 competitors will converge on Penistone for the show on Saturday September 9 and it is expected that around 15,000 visitors from across the region will turn up.

This year is the 145th show and, while its roots may be firmly based within the rural community, organisers also hope to attract visitors from the area’s towns.
