A TEENAGE girl has been struck down by a virus which has left her paralysed from the chest down and wheelchair-bound.

Keen rugby player Maisie Graham, 15, collapsed at Horizon Community College after complaining of backache and a tingling senstation in her legs.

She was transferred to Sheffield Children's Hospital where she has been for the last seven weeks and has been diagnosed with transverse myelitis (TM) - a rare neurological disorder caused by inflammation of the spinal chord.

Maisie, of Keresforth Road, Dodworth, said: "I've gone from playing rugby three times a week to not being able to move my legs."
